You can buy the tickets here

Enjoy!

First of all, we are so excited to see you live on stage once again in Istanbul. You are from Iceland, a country just like an magical music heaven :) So many great musicians such as Björk, Sigur Ros, Of Monsters and Men, Mum, Olafur Arnalds and FM Belfast are the gifts of Iceland to the music world. How does it feel to make music in there? How is the music scene and what are the pros and cons?

Iceland is a good place to live at. I feel like i have a lot of space here but i have never lived anywhere else so i don't know if it's a better or worse place to make music than somewhere else. The music scene here is really strong and there are a lot of Icelandic bands touring internationally so that is a good sign. The cons of living in Iceland is probably that you have to fly everywhere to play and while Iceland is being a very popular tourist attraction right now makes everything in this country very expensive also flights.

Your third studio album "Endless Summer" was out on May, and as you once mentioned, its about "hope and spring". Can you tell about how the idea came out, and how are the first reactions that you get?

The idea of the album came to me after i had been touring Ask the deep which was a little heavy album and i just really wanted to go to another direction,. I wanted to see what i would do if i'd tell myself to make a little more happy album. It didn't turn out very happy but there is hope in it and spring is the season of hope i feel. It's when everything is waking up from the winter, ready to make life again and light. I love playing this album live, it has a more acoustic sound to it than my previous albums so there is another vibe on how we play it. Me and my band also played it somehow together while i was recording and composing so it's not like i made the songs and we had to figure out how to play it but it came more natural.

You performed in Istanbul before, what can you say about the city and the audience?

I LOVE ISTANBUL and i love the food and i love the people!

You released a new song called "Tennis". Can you tell the story of this song?

Hmm i actually didn't write the lyrics so i'm not even sure what it is about haha, maybe tennis?

We released this song as a collaboration with Sindri Már Sigfússon (Sin fang) and Örvar Smárason (from múm) and we all come up with an idea or like a beat or chords to a song then someone (usually the one that makes the song in the first place) comes up with lyrics. Sindri wrote Tennis and Sindri loves tennis so i think it's maybe about him playing tennis with Örvar? :)

Is there any song that you particularly like to play live?

I love playing Úa and Endless summer, also Never cry moon if i have an tiny orchestra with me (accordion, cello, clarinet, trombone)

Which bands / musicians do you listen recently?

I listen to alot. I both listen to a lot of hip hop like Kendrick Lamar, The Roots etc. recently some awesome girls like ABRA, Solange, Kelsey Lu (my fav), SZA, Grouper, Joanna Newsom, Sara Neufeld, FKA Twigs... for example.

Can you tell about your collaborations with Sin Fang and Seabear?

I joined Seabear when i was 20, back in 2006. It was a great time. We toured and we had such a good time. When Seabear took a break i joined Sin Fang live band but after a while i got too busy with my own project so i quit that. Now me and Sindri are collaborating along with Örvar from múm, making one song and releasing it each month which will end in an album by the end of the year.

What are your plans for the near future?

I'm working on a very exiting project where i'm alone with my accordion and voice and some loopers and effects. I will have my first show in the end of September here in Iceland and if it goes well i will make an album and go play more contemporary / experimental shows along with the pop. I also have gigs to play this fall so keeping busy.

Can you please fill in the blanks :)

World would be so boring without music.
I would be sad if i wouldnt be a singer.
Sometimes i find myself singing while i ‘m being watched by the person in the next car
i do a lot (fe. drink coffee, meet friends, make music or do any activity) to cheer up.

Thanks for answers. Is there anything you want to add for your awaiting Turkish listeners?

Looking forward coming to Istanbul again!!!
