One of Europe’s most unique festivals, Electric Castle welcomes thousands of music lovers every year to the historic Bánffy Castle in the Transylvania region of Romania. With its diverse program ranging from electronic music to indie rock, hip-hop to alternative music, and its fairy-tale atmosphere, the festival has become one of the most notable events on the European festival calendar in recent years.
Electric Castle was first held in 2013 at the 15th-century Bánffy Castle in the village of Bonțida, in Romania’s Cluj region. The festival started with the idea of bringing electronic music together with a historic venue, but over time it gained a much broader musical identity.
Today, Electric Castle is recognized as a massive cultural event that brings together music, art, technology, gastronomy, and sustainability themes. The festival site is located in Bonțida, approximately 25-30 km from Cluj-Napoca. The organizers offer excellent options to facilitate transportation:
- Festival Buses: Non-stop services from Cluj throughout the festival period.
- Special EC Trains: Approximately 40 minutes from Cluj Train Station to Bonțida. During the festival period, all national trains stop at Bonțida.
- By Private Vehicle: Parking is available, but they recommend public transport (more sensible in terms of traffic and environment).
- By Air: You can easily reach from Cluj-Napoca International Airport (CLJ) by shuttle or taxi.

It is possible to stay in the city thanks to transportation lines that run throughout the night during the festival. However, since hotels fill up quickly during the festival period, early reservation is important.
